MVNair cannot solve Wage issue

Can CMD like MVNair ensure long lasting good health of the bank with the help of bad General Managers? Can Mr. Nair portray attractive balance sheet for long without window dressing when his most of General Managers are corrupt, charge sheeted or facing CBI inquiry.

When General Managers are not of sound mind and spotless integrity, can they expect their juniors to be clean and loyal to bank? When executive holding top posts are not honest and loyal to the bank, honest and efficient junior officers in the field cannot dream of getting promotion and good posting.

This is a bank where promotions take place completely on the whims of Interviewer. Officers who do not toe the line of bosses are posted at critical places. Charge sheeted officers, General Managers, DGMs and AGMs in Mumbai or in any Metro are not transferred out of their home town. But officers belonging to other states who are not having any God father at Administrative offices are posted at such branches which were spoilt by flatter and corrupt officers and who left no stone unturned to keep boss happy through gifting of costly and precious items.

After all who can stop this unhealthy culture prevailing in a bank when person sitting at the helm of affairs are corrupt and shielded by God father in Banking Division in Delhi or RBI or Ministry of Finance. There are many Satyam like Raju in all banks. It is a matter of time when real exposure of these mischievous persons takes place. Yes it is true that by the time their exposure takes place career of many good persons will be spoilt, ruined and raped.

I have however no doubt that future generation will curse MVNair and blame his policy for the fate of bank, though MVNair as a man is very much effective, assertive and knowledgeable.

strikes in banks-who is responsible

It is the fault of Government that they could not stop strike by PSU banks employees. When SBI went on indefinite strike they gave their green signal to SBI management to increase the amount of Pension which is as third benefit in SBI. In other PSU banks employees has an option to choose between PF and pension.Even then govt is not ready to allow second option to employees to choose bwteen PF and Pension. When PSU bank employees will also go on indefinite strike perhaps government will look into the matter. It is worthwhile to point out here that government is also not firm in its own policies and hence they alter policy on pension frequently.Government allowed outsourcing of work in PSU banks apparently because of paucity of staff or inefficiency of existing workers in the bank. If it is due to former ,government is to blame who allowed and stressed for VRS in the year 2000 in banks and efficient workers left the bank leaving behind comparatively lesser number of efficient workers. It is true there is no honour in reality for honest and devoted workers in the bank. There is extremely poor pay package compared to other private sector banks with whom performance of PSU banks is compared. And if it is due to inefficiency of worker it is again the fault of the management and government as a whole who promoted UNION activities there, promoted corrupt officers at the cost of devoted workers, promoted SC/ST employees even if their quality was far inferior to other co-workers. It is government to blame who introduced loan mela under government schemes and taught bankers to earn money through unfair means in collusion with state government offcials. It is government which introcuded Waiver of loan culture in the country which has shaken the root of the bank.To avoid trouble to public and bank customers in particular government must listen to genuine demands of the banker before they call for strike and if the demands are ungenuine they must take punitive action against the erring officials. They should be prepared to penalise MP's MLA's,Ministers and party workers who have been instrumental in unhealthy advances in the bank and growing NPA's.Why government does not eliminate corrupt officers, workers, ministers,MPand MLA's from the system. Birds of the same feather flock together. Who will bell the cat?
